Mycoses, or fungal diseases, are generally mild in humans. With a high level of immunity to fungi, the body's natural defenses can usually prevent or limit any infection. Some, like ringworm, if treated, can be cured or controlled. Others invade the body and may require long-term or repeated treatments. Two of the most common fungal diseases are athlete's foot and ringworm.
