Baritone & Euphonium
The baritone horn and the euphonium provide another tenor voice to the brass family of instruments. They are similar in appearance but there are some important differences in their design that make a difference in their sound.
The baritone horn has more cylindrical tubing, like a trumpet, and a smaller bore which produces a brighter sound. The euphonium has more conical tubing, like a flugelhorn, and a larger bore which produces a darker sound. Euphoniums will frequently have a fourth valve that is not found on baritone horns.
Baritone horns and euphoniums can be heard in concert bands, marching bands, brass bands, and brass ensembles.
