Unit 3 Journal: Entry #1

Make your own string instrument. Find an empty shoe box, food storage container, or similar object. Stretch rubber bands of varying lengths around the container. To play, strum or pluck the rubber bands.

What differences in sound do you notice from the various rubber bands? What else can you do to the rubber bands to alter the sound? Does using a larger or smaller box make a difference? Write about your discoveries in the Unit 3 Journal located in the Unit 3: Musical Instruments folder.
