Finding, Saving and Citing Sources

Search title

When searching for images you can use sites that offer free images or you can use a search engine such as Google to locate images. Either way you will use the same method of saving and citing your sources.

Free Photo Web Sites

Saving a Photograph or Image Found Online

Use the steps below to save photographs or images found online:

  1. Click on the photo to open it full size.
  2. Right click the full size photo and choose "Save Image As."
  3. Save the photo - giving it a proper name (no spaces, etc.).

Please Note: Most images can be saved using the steps listed; however, it is important to note that some image search sites have unique instructions for saving images listed on their web page. Be sure to review steps for saving images on the image search site you are accessing to ensure your saved images are of the best quality.

When using saved images found online, be sure to note as much of the important information listed below:

  • The web address (URL) for the photo.
  • Title of the web page.
  • Date of the web page.
  • Author
