Civilian Sacrifices
With the economy shifting into high gear, civilians on the home front found that they could actually afford some free-time luxuries. Magazines, movies, and sporting events were all prevalent attractions during the war.
Baseball games became popular events during this period. As more and more players were drafted for war, women were given the opportunity to be featured in sports. In 1943, Philip Wrigley founded the All-American Girls Softball League, which by 1945 became the All-American Girls Baseball League.

Cinema provided an escape for all Americans during the war. Themes such as patriotism were now the focus in epic films such as Casablanca. Additionally, theaters also showed newsreels to moviegoers, which provided an increased sense of awareness regarding the war and instilled a greater sense of nationalism.
