Presentation Avatar: Cognates

Roberta, the avatar below, is going to explain a very useful tool in language learning.  “Cognados” or Cognates are words that look or sound the same in different languages and have the same meaning.   Most of the cognates, in Spanish and English, were originally Latin words that Spanish and English speakers incorporated into their own languages.  When learning a language, these words will jump out at you and can be used as context clues to figure out the meaning of unknown passages.
