Baroque Era (1600-1750): Introduction
The English term Baroque is derived from the Italian word barocco, which means extravagant, complex, or bizarre. Bizarre is not the most accurate description of this era, but ornamented and exuberant would describe this era very well. The architecture of this era was very elaborate and decorated. The music was typically decorated just as much as the architecture.
