Demonstrative pronouns (これ,それ,あれどれ)are used to point out or to indicate a specific person, thing, place or direction. The following chart shows the primary demonstratives in Japanese. Demonstrative adjectives (この,その,あの, どの) are followed by a noun or noun phrase.

word is used when referring to things, people and places close to the speaker.
