きもの is a traditional Japanese garment. When you visit Kyoto, you might be able to see some young women wearing elaborate kimonos. The top center photo depicts apprentice geisha called まいこ. The other photos depict kimono's that a bride would wear along with the grooms traditional wedding attire.

In Japanese there are two types of verbs to express “to be” or “to exist,” います and あります. Let’s take a look at the following examples:

ともだちは がっこうに います。

CDは おんがくやに あります。

います is used for an animate object (such as a person or an animal); on the other hand, あります is used for an inanimate object. Both います and あります mean to be or exist.
