Accidents: Environment and Safety
There are many things in our environment that lead to accidents. Some things we can change to prevent them, other things take government action. The Environmental Protection Agency is one source of information if you have concerns about your community's safety.
If you live in an area where there is air pollution and the drinking water is not safe, you could act by buying bottled water and contacting the appropriate officials to do something about the air quality. In some areas where there are older homes there is the problem of lead in paints; houses that haven't been inspected in a long time don't meet the current codes for safety. There are many people who live in areas that are not safe at night. Check your surroundings. Where can you walk safely at night? Don't go in the dark secluded areas alone. Identify the situation. What are the unsafe acts or habits you do? Change them to prevent injury.
