House Floor Plan

Have you ever read a map, a floor plan, or looked at a model of a plane?  All of these are smaller versions of the real thing; they are the same shape, but smaller.  They help us visualize the actual object, do calculations, and make decisions using a manageable size.  In order to translate the measurements from the object to the model or from the model to the object, we use ratios and proportions.  In this unit, we will first learn how to work with ratios and proportions and then apply those to working with similar triangles and similar polygons.
