Alternating Current
You’ll learn a little more about alternating current in later units, but for now, just know it is the kind of electricity generated by power plants. An alternating current actually changes direction many times a second because of the moving parts of a generator. You are not responsible now for calculations associated with AC power, but you should be familiar with the concepts.
Read section 18-7: Alternating Current in your textbook for an introduction on the topic. Do not spend too much time reviewing the calculations or derivations—just be familiar with the variables that AC current depends on.
