Activity: State Agencies
State agencies provide a variety of health services.
Federal and state agencies have similar goals but different methods. State governments do the following:
- Keep health records
- Sponsor education and prevention programs
- Fund (along with federal funds) health services for the poor or for counties and cities
Visit your State Department of Health's website by opening Google and searching for "State Department of Health" to find out more about your state's policies. Take notes on the following:
- List three activities that your State Department of Health sponsors.
- What are they (name and describe them)?
- How many programs provide health services for the poor or others? List them.
- List two other activities your State Department of Health engages in.
