Lab Instructions
In this virtual demonstration, there are three test tubes. In one test tube, calcium chloride is used to remove water from the air inside the tube (i.e. removing the oxygen). In the second test tube, boiled water is placed in the tube (boiling removes the oxygen from the water). And the third tube is filled half-way with non-boiled water. Several iron nails are placed in the bottom of each test tube.
Before beginning, note your hypothesis in your notes—what, if anything, will be the difference between the three tubes? Why do you think this?
